So I have just completed the ivideo. What an experience! One that I most likely will not use in my teaching career but never the less, it was an experience! I feel quite shameful that I missed 2 additional PD opportunities today that has a high possibility of being transferred to classroom to complete a project that has minimal usage. I also feel as if I had to duped my PDA as well. Of course I am probably part of only half of the class that sees it this way. But at the end we all just want to graduate.

12 Days Left
Wow! This has seemed like the longest 2 weeks ever! I presented my TIP today. I am glad I had a chance to do it. I deserved my 7 minutes to talk about months of work! Now I am going to consider what I will do with my server space and moodle. Do I unistall it? or just let my subscription die? I better talk to Paul! I am totally proud of if and maybe I should keep it for a bit to complete my PDA (Teacher Portfolio)??
Speaking of PDA, when I designed my website last August, I really designed it with a theme that I thought that represented me as a teacher. Its all original and I was thinking of using some of the same ideas particularly the color palate. I also want to brush and step up my CSS skills. We shall see....
Last night I completed Monique's and my AfterEd. After looking at the video, I really really really want to get better at Premiere. I did become comfortable with it (since I had to redo it TWICE). The quality of the product was nowhere near the standards that I would set for myself. Unfortunately Monique is a mac user and she's still working on improving her online research methods (I do love you Monique - My intentions are not to be mean! Still friends?)
I think I have hit a brick. Not a plateau, which is good because that means I can go around the brick and try to get back uphill! :) I'm just so afraid that when I do manage to get around the brick, it will be too late! My 2 weeks will be up and the learning time will be postponed until after the wedding, move, beginning of school, etc. Life.
So I have this ivideo, imovie, ithing to do and this is my chance. *Lose Yourself by Eminem playing* Seriously. I have dreams about it. I have one solid idea. I need another... again, we shall see...

Tonight's Readings
Okay, so I am feeling much better after reading tonights readings. I even tagged the techLearning article. I'm ashamed that I passed over it even though I am a subscriber. Maybe I should take some time to check them out more often.
This coming school year I plan on giving some PD opportunities to my faculty. I plan to split up the PD into abilities. I loved the defined profiles: Early Tech Developing Tech Advance Tech Target Tech. I am considering using these terms once I assess where faculty is - and they are sure to be all across the board with over 200! I would love to see an actual ET-IDP because I find it very interesting. Can you imagine trying to get a bunch of DoD teachers on an iep! I'm sure the would contact their union rep... j/k.
This is the part that I want to have access to when I go back to this blog in the future:

Technology-based professional development activities should be anchored with the following fundamental principles:
- Participants learn by doing.
- Activities are relevant to the participants' educational roles.
- Leaders model appropriate instructional strategies.
- Schedules include time for reflection and collaboration.
- Leaders and other participants provide ongoing support.
Meaningful technology staff development opportunities:
- Must be a district priority and will take time, planning, and a group commitment for success.
- Supplement and enrich curriculum.
- Provide assessment of staff needs for district, building, and individual improvement.
- Provide opportunities for teachers to improve on individual goals.
- Will be presented in a variety of teaching styles, while recognizing and embracing diversity.
- May need to be presented in a variety of formats, including district, building, grade level, curricular areas, small group, and individual.
- Create an initial product/ strategy, enhanced through practice for classroom implementation, leading to reflection and revision of the product.
AfterEd Plans
With similar commonalities, Monique and I decided that our AfterEd video would be the focus on Young Children and Technology. We are currently working on a solid 10 things. We both have some footage of children that we may use but we plan on infusing our video with already existing footage from royal free sources to keep it professional.
Our Audience: Teachers and other educators
Our Goal: For the audience to become aware of the need for technology in the early childhood classrooms (PK-2).
